I know this is an old forum, but I need to comment. I have a 1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo that I bought for my daughter to use. The battery was brand new when I got the Jeep, but soon after purchasing it I would find if it sat a few days without driving it the battery would be completely dead.

How do i gently open the key to change battery. Also will it lose the settings and need re programing if i change the battery. Any ideas.

I have a 2015 Grand Cherokee with 100K miles. In October the battery will be coming up on 6 years which is when I normally replace them since I live in Northern Illinois. The car has been here since purchased. When I pressed the start button once (to the ACC position) and hit the up arrow the dash indicator said the battery was less than 8 volts.
4 posts · Joined 2011. #1 · Nov 16, 2018. My 2012 Grand Cherokee began not starting on the 1st button push last month. It takes 2 or 3 pushes before the starter will turn over. About 25% of the time it will start on 1st push. The local DODGE dealer just changed the button switch, reprogrammed the key fob, and some other stuff that wasn't cheep. 7bohFEv.
